Job Description
Commercial Air Conditioning Installation Engineer\n\nField-Based - London / Travel Required\n Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 (depending on skills and experience)\n\nHours: 7:30am - 4:30pm (including two-way paid travel)\n Benefits: Company van for personal use, 8% company pension contribution\n\nOverview\n\nWe are recruiting on behalf of a leading mechanical services business for experienced Commercial Air Conditioning Installation Engineers. The business specialises in full M&E installations and service works, covering London with occasional visits further afield.\n\nThe company works on high-spec commercial projects, including pharmaceutical and medical laboratories, offices, retail, and industrial sites. This role offers hands-on experience with a variety of HVAC systems, including split, multi-split, and VRF systems, as well as MVHR, AHUs, and cold room installations.\n\nBoth single-skilled and multi-skilled engineers are sought, with multi-skilled engineers undertaking additional responsibilities in electrical, gas, or refrigeration works.\n\nMinimum Role Expectancies (Single-Skilled F-Gas)\n\nInstallation of commercial air conditioning systems including:\n\nSplit systems\n\nMulti-splits\n\nVRF systems\n\nInstallation of MVHR systems, including ductwork, grilles, and louvres\n\nCommissioning and testing of AC systems in accordance with specifications and standards\n\nWorking to strict Health & Safety procedures on all sites\n\nMulti-Skilled Role Responsibilities\n\nIn addition to the above, multi-skilled engineers may also be required to:\n\nInstall refrigeration and freezer systems, including walk-in cold rooms and bespoke control systems\n\nInstall new electrical circuits and power supplies to mechanical plant, including testing/inspection if qualified (AM2)\n\nInstall domestic services and drainage, including MCW/DHW supplies, unvented DHW cylinders (tickets required)\n\nUndertake mechanical installations including boilers, plant room fit-outs, and general heating ancillaries\n\nWork across multiple M&E disciplines, providing a complete installation solution\n\nTypical Projects & Scope of Work\n\nThe business operates across multiple commercial and industrial sectors, with long-term client partnerships, particularly in pharmaceutical and medical labs.
Typical installations include:\n\nVRF and MVHR systems\n\nAHU DX cooling systems\n\nWalk-in cold room fridge/freezer systems with bespoke controls\n\nLab water and drainage systems\n\nDomestic water and drainage systems including sanitaryware\n\nAHU run-around coil circuits, including pressure sets, pump sets, expansion vessels, etc.\n\nUnvented DHW cylinders\n\nCandidate Requirements\n\nF-Gas qualified (essential)\n\nMulti-skilled engineers: Electrical AM2 or Gas Safe certification (required for multi-skilled tasks)\n\nProven experience installing commercial air conditioning systems (split, multi-split, VRFs, AHUs)\n\nExperience with mechanical pipework, ductwork, and plant room installations\n\nRefrigeration system installation experience for multi-skilled engineers (cold rooms, freezers)\n\nAbility to read and work from technical drawings, plans, and schematics\n\nStrong fault-finding and problem-solving skills\n\nFull UK driving licence (essential)\n\nAbility to work independently in a field-based role, managing own schedule and workload\n\nProfessional, customer-facing approach and strong communication skills\n\nBenefits\n\nDoor-to-door paid travel\n\nCompany van for personal use\n\n8% company pension contribution\n\nOngoing training and career development\n\nLong-term career stability in a supportive engineering environment\n\nInterested?\n If you believe you have the skills and experience to excel in this role, apply today.\n\nAlecto Recruitment Limited is acting as an employment business for this vacancy.
