The Sussex Reptile Rescue Centre is a dedicated animal welfare charity that provides care, rehabilitation, and rehoming for Reptiles. We're committed to giving every animal the second chance they deserve. Job Overview We’re seeking a compassionate, hardworking  Animal Care Assistant  to join our hands-on care team. You’ll be responsible for maintaining high standards of care and hygiene while supporting animals on their journey toward recovery and adoption. Responsibilities Feed, groom, and clean animals and their enclosures Observe animal behaviour and report concerns to senior staff Support enrichment and rehabilitation activities Assist with basic medical care and record-keeping Ensure the environment is safe, clean, and welcoming Work as part of a small, dedicated team Interact with visitors and volunteers where required Requirements ✅ Previous experience working with animals (paid or voluntary) ✅ Passion for animal welfare ✅  Level 3 Diploma in Animal Care or equivalent ✅ Comfortable with physical work (lifting, cleaning, outdoor tasks) ✅ Reliable and able to work independently or in a team ✅ Willing to work weekends and bank holidays Desirable (but not essential) Experience with [e.g., exotic animals, wildlife, farm animals] Full UK driving licence What We Offer Supportive team and positive work environment Training and development opportunities Uniform and PPE provided A rewarding role where you truly make a difference
