Applications Engineer

Location: Midlands (Field & Office-Based)
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 + Bonus + Company Car + Benefits


Overview

We are recruiting for an experienced Applications Engineer with a strong background in CNC machining and programming to support customers across the Midlands. This is a hands-on, customer-facing role focused on demonstrating machine capabilities, optimising machining processes, and providing technical expertise across a range of CNC solutions.


Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support and applications expertise for CNC machine tools
  • Develop and prove out machining processes for customer components
  • Program CNC machines (milling and/or turning) using offline and on-machine programming
  • Deliver machine demonstrations, run-offs, and customer trials
  • Support the sales team with technical input during the pre-sales process
  • Advise customers on tooling, workholding, and process optimisation
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and improve cycle times and efficiency
  • Deliver customer training on machine operation and programming
  • Work closely with internal engineering and service teams

Requirements
  • Proven experience working with CNC machines (milling and/or turning)
  • Strong CNC programming experience (e.g. Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain)
  • Background as an Applications Engineer, CNC Programmer, or Machinist
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Experience with CAD/CAM software (desirable)
  • Strong problem-solving and process improvement skills
  • Confident communicator with customer-facing experience
  • Full UK driving licence
