Architect / Architectural Designer - Exclusive Access via Grõ Careers

New Yesterday

Job Description

For designers who want more than a traditional studio.

Some studios produce great images.

Some produce great buildings.

But only a handful create places - environments shaped by context, narrative, materiality, atmosphere, culture, craft, and people.

This is one of those studios.

And their brand new London workspace is growing.

Grõ Careers is the exclusive talent partner for all hiring in this studio’s King’s Cross base.

You won’t see these opportunities advertised anywhere else - if you’re reading this, you’re already at the front of the queue.

The Studio - A Different Kind of Design Culture

This is a globally respected architecture and design practice with a reputation for:

  • Design-led, research-driven projects
  • Cultural and civic architecture
  • High-end hospitality and destination work
  • Luxury residential and branded living
  • Large-scale mixed-use and masterplanning

Their ethos is clear:

  • Human experience before form
  • Context, land, craft and climate at the heart of every decision
  • Narrative and research woven through the work
  • Low-ego, deeply collaborative teams
  • Designers with curiosity and cultural range

It’s an environment where thoughtful debate, material intelligence, storytelling, prototyping and craft matter just as much as formal innovation.

The London Studio - King’s Cross

This is the practice’s first permanent base outside its country of origin - a design-led, fast-moving, start-up mode environment within a major global practice.

Expect:

  • A tight-knit, ambitious team where everyone is visible and trusted
  • Hands-on leadership, direct access to directors
  • Shared studio energy: pin-ups, sketching, whiteboards, fast iteration
  • A dedicated exhibition/gallery area for installations, talks and internal experimentation
  • 5 days in the studio (they believe great design happens together)
  • Early Friday finishes around 3pm - part of the rhythm of the place

The atmosphere is international, curious, contemporary - a group of designers who care deeply about ideas, craft, culture and context.

Hybrid Studio, Hybrid Roles

One of the most unique aspects of this London team:

They actively want designers who bring multiple strengths.

If you’re someone who combines:

  • Design + Project Management
  • Design + Graphics / Visualisation
  • Design + BIM
  • Design + Research / Storytelling
  • Design + Exhibition / Narrative Curation

…this is a place where those hybrid skills are used, not sidelined.

You are not just a job title here.

Current Openings: Architectural Designer(s)

Open to:

  • Experienced Part II Architectural Assistants
  • Architectural Designers
  • Recently Qualified Architects (approx. 3-6 years’ experience)

Multiple entry points depending on experience level - not multiple titles.

What you’ll work on

Live and upcoming projects in:

  • High-end hospitality & destination design
  • Cultural and civic environments
  • Luxury residential & branded living
  • Large mixed-use and urban schemes across Europe and the Middle East

You’ll primarily shape:

  • RIBA 0-3 (research, concept, early design)
  • With exposure to RIBA 4 and beyond on selected projects

What you’ll actually do

You’ll be:

  • Generating and developing concepts through sketches, models, Rhino, Grasshopper, and Revit
  • Driving design development at RIBA 2-3
  • Producing diagrams, presentations and visuals that tell a clear story
  • Iterating quickly in 3D to test and refine ideas
  • Coordinating with landscape, structures, MEP, and interiors as projects evolve
  • Working across time zones with international partners and client teams

This is not a back-office production role. You’ll be deeply embedded in early design thinking and project shaping.

Who Thrives Here

You’re likely a strong fit if you:

  • Have around 2-6 years’ experience in a leading design studio
  • Are excellent in Rhino and Revit
  • Can move fluidly between concept, diagrams, 3D testing and design development
  • Use digital tools to enhance creativity, not replace it
  • Think narratively as well as visually
  • Bring calmness, clarity and low-ego collaboration to the room
  • Are proactive, resourceful and comfortable in a start-up-like environment
  • Bring interests beyond architecture - art, film, craft, photography, music, writing, research

This is a studio that values whole people, not just portfolios.

Progression & Growth

As the London studio grows, there is space to:

  • Move into senior design roles
  • Become a studio specialist (e.g. BIM, PM, graphics, research)
  • Contribute to exhibitions, talks, installations and gallery programming
  • Shape the culture of a young and fast-rising team
  • Work across continents with deeply experienced design leaders

Salary packages are highly competitive, often 10-20% above comparable design studios.
