Mission
The role of the Area Sales Manager is to own the customer base within a given postcode area (L, M, WA and WN), build strong working relationships with existing and new clients, and leverage the full width of Schneider Electric’s offers and services. The manager is responsible for achieving all targets set relating to orders, sales, profitability, and strategic initiatives within the customer base, and for building a strong internal network for support.
Key Responsibilities
Area Sales Strategy – create a strong area sales strategy that drives growth, set clear targets for existing customer growth/saturation and new customer acquisition, and align with channel and marketing to deliver solid customer engagement plans.
Financial KPI’s – meet or exceed all KPI’s set, focusing on orders, sales, margin, new customer acquisition, and opportunity win rate while managing MDF and expense costs.
Key Customer Relationships – develop, hold, and nurture key customer relationships across the account portfolio in all channels (Distribution, Panel Builders, Contractors), leveraging these relationships to grow the business.
Forecasting – provide formal rolling forecast by quarter, formal monthly forecasting to the business, and semi‑formal forecasts as required by the Regional Director.
CRM Excellence – uphold a culture of CRM excellence, documenting all customer interactions and managing opportunities with complete information.
Pipeline Management – run robust pipeline management across the area, ensuring short‑, medium‑ and long‑term views of projects, sell the full Schneider offering, and align the offer mix with the market. Establish clear workstreams to improve win rate and time to close.
Skills and Attributes
Sales Management – experience as a high‑performing sales professional within a high‑performing team.
Strong influence and convincing skills.
Excellent negotiation skills.
Highly organized with strong planning skills.
Good general business sense and awareness of macro market trends.
Education
General Business Degree or equivalent work experience.
Professional sales training.
