Many of the children have Autism (ASD) and have complex needs. The ideal Autism Teaching Assistant: Experience working with students with behavioural challenges, preferably in an educational or special education setting. Knowledge of behaviour management techniques, positive reinforcement strategies, and de-escalation methods. Ability to establish rapport and build positive relationships with students, demonstrating patience, empathy, and understanding.
