Job Title: Assembly Technician (2nd Shift)
Department: Denver Operations
Reports To: Engineering Operations Manager
Location: Brighton, CO
Position Summary:
The Assembly Technician is responsible for building prototypes of carbon capture units in Brighton, CO. This position will follow written procedures and drawings to perform work on systems such as pneumatic, steam, chilled water, and basic electrical systems. The Assembly Technician will also carry out various administrative tasks to support the maintenance and spare parts programs in the rapidly growing Direct Air Capture industry. Candidates for this position must be available to work a 2nd shift schedule (~2:00 PM – 10:00 PM).
Objectives & Responsibilities
Execute prototype builds for Carbon Capture systems by following P&IDs and assembly drawings provided by engineering staff. Provide feedback for improvement in assembly/design to engineering staff based on best practices and operational/ergonomic considerations.
Collaborate with mechanical engineering, process engineering, and project management departments to effectively prioritize work efforts on prototype builds and ensure timely execution of projects
Support R&D/engineering efforts by modifying existing equipment and piping to meet varying experimental goals
Walk down and redline Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) to ensure accuracy
Remove and replace piping components, such as valves, sensors, and flanges
Replace mechanical components, such as belts, filters, automatic drains, and pumps
Work closely with Operations staff in conducting maintenance on equipment
Perform regular inspections of equipment to ensure rapid identification of fault conditions
Perform calibrations on various sensors according to written instructions (pressure, temperature, dissolved oxygen)
Perform emergency maintenance on Facilities assets. This includes responding to leaks and correcting other emergent issues, per direction from the Facilities and Maintenance Manager
Participate in safety and maintenance training programs to ensure compliance and advance technical proficiency
Conduct and track Preventative Maintenance (PM) and Corrective Maintenance (CM) using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
Perform safe startup, shutdown, and operation of various facilities equipment including Air Compressors, Boilers, Chillers, Pumps, and Fans
Provide input on tools or devices which can improve workflow
Perform inventory counts for spare and consumable parts on a regular basis to ensure sufficient part inventory
Submit part order requests to restock inventory levels
Provide ongoing feedback on maintenance procedures to ensure accuracy and promote a continuous improvement culture
Ensure compliance with site EHS requirements regarding chemical handling and hazardous waste

Skills
Proficiency in assembling complex mechanical systems as demonstrated by rigorously following assembly drawings and P&IDs
Proficiency in maintaining and troubleshooting industrial utilities such as Steam, Chilled Water, or Compressed Air
Ability to modify gas or liquid piping systems based on provided drawings (2D & 3D)
Basic pipefitting (flanges, unions, Swagelok, threaded connections, soft tubing, push to connect fittings)
Application of Safety practices such as Lockout Tagout, PPE, Machine Guarding, Fall Protection, and Hot Work Permits
Mechanical troubleshooting aptitude
Safe use of hand and power tools
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Windows, Excel, Teams, Outlook)
Detail-oriented
Basic math skills
Good communication skills
Qualifications
Education:
Required: High School diploma or equivalent education
: Technical Training, Vocational Training, or Associate Degree in fields such as Industrial Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Maintenance Technology
Experience fabricating and installing gas or liquid distribution systems
Experience with machining/fabrication of metal and plastic
Experience replacing mechanical components such as motors and pumps
Experience performing maintenance according to written procedures
Experience reading Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and mechanical drawings
Experience with the application of fundamental process principles including pressure, heat transfer, and fluid flow
Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Compensation: $25-$32/hour
