Assistant Accountant

Our well-established client, based in Norwich, are currently seeking an Assistant Accountant to join their Finance team.

This a full-time position, on a 6-month contract.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

Essential:

• Experience of the necessary transactions and controls to maintain the integrity of the ledgers,
• Recent experience of working in an Accounts role.
• Excellent computer skills, including e-mail, internet, word-processing and spreadsheet knowledge
• 5 GCSEs grades A-C including Maths and English or an equivalent qualification
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, using initiative and applying Essential problem solving skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and security of information where appropriate
• Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well as part of a team
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal

Desirable:

• Part qualified accountant or qualified by experience
• Numeric analytical skills, with the ability to interrogate and interpret complex financial data

Key Duties:

• Routine student related transactions and mailbox query resolution.
• Analysis of costs for capital grants and helping with grant claims as required.
• Assisting with the preparation and posting of fixed asset additions and disposals.
• Undertaking additional duties as required, including support for ONS submissions, administration of year-end transactions and associated analytical tasks.
• As agreed with line manager, any other duties commensurate with the nature of the role.
