Manchester (Fully Office-Based) ?? £38,000 per annumWe are currently recruiting for an experienced Assistant Branch Manager to join a well-established banking organisation in Manchester. This is a key role within the branch, responsible for overseeing daily operations, supporting team performance, and ensuring high standards of customer service, compliance, and operational control.The RoleWorking closely with the Area Branch Manager, you will take joint responsibility for the smooth and efficient running of the branch. You will play a hands-on role in managing operations, supervising staff, and ensuring adherence to regulatory and internal procedures.In the absence of the Area Branch Manager, you will take full operational responsibility for the branch.Key ResponsibilitiesOversee day-to-day branch operations, ensuring operational excellence and efficiencyAct as Line Manager for Personal Bankers and Cashiers, driving performance and productivitySupervise cash operations, including control and authorisation of transactionsMaintain joint custody of cash, security items, and branch keys, ensuring adherence to control proceduresEnsure full compliance with AML, KYC, and UK banking regulationsAuthorise transactions and monitor account activity in line with delegated authorityOversee account opening/closing processes and maintain accurate documentationManage loan administration, including documentation, monitoring, and file maintenanceSupport the preparation and assessment of credit proposals and lending decisionsHandle customer queries and complaints, ensuring excellent service standardsConduct reconciliations of internal and external accountsSupport branch audits, controls, and reporting requirementsEnsure smooth coordination with internal departments including Operations, Compliance, and Head OfficeMaintain high standards of branch presentation, security, and data protectionAbout YouStrong experience in retail banking operationsGood understanding of AML, KYC, and risk controls within UK bankingProven ability to manage and lead a small teamExperience in cash management, account operations, and branch controlsKnowledge of loan processing and credit documentationExcellent organisational skills and attention to detailStrong communication skills with a customer-focused approachAbility to work independently and take ownership of branch operationsWhat's on OfferSalary of £38,000 per annumOpportunity to step into a key leadership role within branch operationsExposure to a broad range of banking functions including operations, compliance, and lendingStable, full-time position based fully onsite in ManchesterJBRP1_UKTJ
