Assistant Engineering Manager – Commercial Vehicle Garage Location: Sheffield Salary: £47,000 per annum

A well‑established commercial vehicle garage in the Sheffield area is seeking a capable and motivated Assistant Engineering Manager to support the smooth and efficient running of a busy workshop. This position suits an experienced commercial vehicle technician or workshop supervisor ready to progress, or an existing manager looking for a new challenge.

Role Overview You will work closely with the Engineering Manager to maintain high standards across all workshop operations. Key responsibilities include:

Overseeing daily workshop activity and supporting a team of technicians

Ensuring maintenance, servicing, and repairs are completed to required standards

Assisting with job allocation, scheduling, and workflow management

Maintaining compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements

Supporting staff development, training, and performance management

Liaising with customers, suppliers, and internal teams

Contributing to continuous improvement across the engineering function

Candidate Requirements
Strong background in commercial vehicle maintenance (HGV, PSV, or LCV)

Previous supervisory or team‑lead experience in a workshop environment

Excellent organisational and communication skills

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced setting

A proactive, hands‑on approach with strong problem‑solving ability

Relevant engineering qualifications (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)
