Assistant Product and Collection Mens Fashion Designer
New Today
Job Description
Mens Fashion Designer - PHIX - Manchester, UK
PHIX is a fashion brand built on a distinct creative vision, combining sharp design, cultural storytelling, and a strong aesthetic identity. Rooted in 70s vintage and music culture, the brand is known for its refined tailoring, statement detailing, elevated fabrics, and confident silhouettes. Our collections are driven by design and point of view rather than trend.
Over the years, PHIX has developed high-profile licensed collaborations with artists including David Bowie and The Rolling Stones, translating iconic cultural references into premium, wearable product. With new collaborations planned for 2026 and beyond, alongside the continued evolution of the core collection, this is an exciting time to join the brand.
This role also includes a generous bonus structure.
The Role
This is a design-led role first and foremost. We are looking for a designer with a strong eye, strong taste, and a genuine instinct for product. Someone who is creatively driven, full of ideas, and also commercially aware enough to understand why certain styles connect with customers. You will be responsible for developing new concepts, as well as analysing what is already working within the range. This could involve evolving best-selling pieces through new fabrics, colourways, proportions, or design refinements, while also identifying natural opportunities to strengthen categories in a way that feels authentic to PHIX.
You will work closely with the Founder and Creative Director, as well as the wider design and production team. We are looking for someone who brings initiative and ideas forward naturally. This is not a role where you wait for a brief.
While the primary focus is design, there will also be some light involvement in development and collection organisation. This may include sample tracking, supporting workflows, and helping ensure collections are balanced and ideas move through the process properly. These responsibilities are secondary to design, but important in bringing strong ideas to life.
Key Responsibilities
- Design new products in line with the PHIX aesthetic
- Develop concepts from initial idea through to sampling and refinement
- Review best-selling products and propose strong evolutions or extensions
- Identify gaps and opportunities within existing categories
- Translate cultural, vintage, and music-led references into relevant product ideas
- Contribute to the structure, balance, and overall direction of collections
- Support development processes where needed to help ideas progress smoothly
- Present ideas clearly, with both creative and commercial awareness
- A designer with a strong visual eye and a confident sense of taste
- A genuine affinity for 70s vintage, music culture, and design-led fashion
- A good understanding of silhouette, proportion, fabric, and detail
- Commercial awareness and interest in what makes product perform
- Confidence in analysing existing product and suggesting new directions
- Curiosity about how people wear and style clothing in real life
- Confidence in sharing ideas and responding well to feedback
- Ambition to grow in responsibility over time
- Not a purely technical or execution-only role
- Not a trend-driven design position
- Not a production or operations role, although some support in this area will be required
- Work on culturally meaningful, design-led product
- Play a real role in shaping collections rather than simply executing them
- Gain insight into how strong creative ideas become commercially successful products
- Contribute to future high-profile collaborations
- Join a brand that values craftsmanship, storytelling, and long-term creative direction
