Assistant Quantity Surveyor\n\nLocation: South East (Surrey)\nEmployment Type: Full-Time, Permanent\n\nAbout the Company\n\nOur client is a medium-sized main contractor specialising in the delivery of high-end private residential projects across the South East. Their portfolio includes luxury new builds, full refurbishments, extensions, and bespoke leisure complexes. With over 15 years of experience and a strong reputation for quality, attention to detail, and premium service, they deliver exceptional homes to discerning clients.\n\nRole Overview\n\nThe Assistant Quantity Surveyor will support the commercial and financial management of projects, working closely with the Senior Quantity Surveyor and project teams.
The role covers both pre-construction activities such as tendering and estimating, and live project delivery including valuations, variations, procurement, and cost reporting.\n\nThis is a dynamic opportunity offering hands-on experience and structured development within a high-performing team environment.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n * Support the preparation of Bills of Quantities, schedules of works, and tender submissions including measuring, cost planning, and value engineering.\n\n * Assist with competitive and negotiated tenders, ensuring accurate financial input and application of current market rates.\n\n * Support the commercial management of live projects, including valuations, interim applications, and final accounts.\n\n * Manage variations, change orders, and subcontractor accounts while monitoring project costs, cash flow, and budgets.\n\n * Undertake site visits to assess progress, quality, and completed works.\n\n * Support procurement of subcontractors and materials, and provide cost advice and reporting throughout the project lifecycle.\n\nRequirements\n\n * Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a similar construction or commercial discipline.\n\n * Ideally 2–4 years’ experience, with exposure to high-quality residential projects .\n\n * Strong numerical and analytical skills, with excellent attention to detail.\n\n * Confident communicator with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, clients, and subcontractors.\n\n * Dynamic, proactive, and eager to develop under the guidance of a Senior Quantity Surveyor.\n\n * Organised and self-motivated, with the ability to manage multiple tasks.\n\nWhat’s on Offer\n\n * Competitive salary, commensurate with experience.\n\n * Opportunity to work on prestigious high-end residential projects.\n\n * Full-time, office-based role, 5 days per week.\n\n * Professional development and mentorship from a Senior Quantity Surveyor.\n\n * Opportunity to be part of a close-knit, dynamic, and ambitious team.\n\n * 25 days annual leave per annum.\n\n * Nest pension contributions
