As our Assistant Quantity Surveyor within the Capital Delivery directorate, you’ll play a key part in the commercial and financial management of construction and infrastructure projects across Cadent’s portfolio. This isn’t just about reviewing costs or checking invoices – this is about supporting project teams to deliver value for money, ensuring contract compliance and providing the analysis that helps us make informed commercial decisions.
In this permanent role, you’ll work closely with Commercial Managers, Project Quantity Surveyors and project teams to support tendering activity, contract management, cost assurance and project forecasting. You’ll help maintain accurate commercial records, engage with contractors, attend site visits and contribute to the development of robust commercial processes that underpin successful project delivery.

Commercial Support – Assist with managing contracts, reviewing costs and ensuring compliance with commercial frameworks.
Tendering & Contract Creation – Support the preparation of contract data, mini‑tenders and scope information for new work packages.
Cost Assurance – Collate, challenge and report on contractor costs to ensure value for money and accurate financial performance.
Site Engagement – Attend construction sites to review progress, validate costs and identify early warnings or risks.
Forecasting & Reporting – Support the development of commercial forecasts and provide regular reporting to key stakeholders.
Governance & Compliance – Ensure adherence to commercial procedures, change management processes and financial controls.
Stakeholder Collaboration – Build strong relationships across Capital Delivery, Commercial, Finance, Procurement and supply chain partners. What you’ll bring:
Experience or training in quantity surveying, ideally within NEC‑based contract environments.
Understanding of unit cost principles, cost modelling, benchmarking and commercial drivers.
Ability to analyse cost data, review contractor submissions and support commercial decision‑making.
Strong communication skills and confidence working with internal teams and contractors.
High attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining commercial records and documentation.
A proactive, organised and solutions‑focused approach to work.
Working towards (or aspiring to work towards) a relevant professional accreditation. Qualifications:
Valid UK driving licence
