Assistant Town Planner\n Location: Reading\n\nPenguin Recruitment is pleased to be supporting a well respected planning consultancy in their search for an Assistant Town Planner to join their growing team in Reading.\n\nThis is an excellent opportunity for an Assistant Town Planner looking to build a strong foundation in consultancy planning, working across a wide range of development projects and gaining experience alongside experienced planners.\n\nThe Role\n\nAs an Assistant Town Planner, you will support the planning team on a variety of projects from early appraisal through to determination.\n\nKey responsibilities include:\n\nAssisting with the preparation and submission of planning applications\n\nUndertaking planning research and site appraisals\n\nSupporting appeals and Local Plan representations\n\nLiaising with local authorities, consultees and clients\n\nMonitoring planning policy and legislative changes\n\nProviding general support to senior planners across multiple projects\n\nAbout You\n\nThe ideal Assistant Town Planner will have:\n\nA degree or postgraduate qualification in Town Planning or a related discipline\n\nSome experience within a planning consultancy or local authority (desirable)\n\nA good understanding of the UK planning system\n\nStrong written and verbal communication skills\n\nA proactive attitude and willingness to learn\n\nThe ability to work effectively as part of a team\n\nWhy Apply?\n\nThis Assistant Town Planner role offers structured training, exposure to varied projects, and clear opportunities for career progression within a supportive consultancy environment.\n\nIf you are interested in this Assistant Town Planner position, please contact Joel Bland at Penguin Recruitment
