Job Description
Reliability Engineer\n\nLocation: RG7 4PR, located between Reading and Basingstoke, with free onsite parking.\n\nPackage: £39,280 - £55,000 (dependent on suitability and level of experience) + an additional allowance\n\nReady to play your part? \n\nAt AWE, it's not just a job, it's far more than that. Could this role be the opportunity for you to play your part? \n\nAWE is looking for a Reliability Engineer to join our dynamic team. As part of AWE Sites and Assets Team, you'll play a pivotal role in driving the performance and reliability of our cutting-edge equipment.\n\nIn this role, you'll collaborate closely with experienced engineers and stakeholders, contributing to reliability discussions and learning how design, maintenance and operational choices impact asset performance.
You'll support activities such as installation, breakdown analysis, maintenance planning, servicing and error mapping, helping to improve plant efficiency, reliability and uptime.\n\nThis is much more than a traditional maintenance role. You'll also be involved in bespoke projects across diverse facilities, gaining exposure to cutting‑edge technologies and real-world engineering challenges from design phase to ownership.\n\nWe're looking for motivated, curious engineers who are keen to learn, develop and grow their careers in reliability engineering. \n\nWe do need you to have the following;\n\nA minimum NVQ Level 3 in an engineering discipline with hands-on Industry experience in maintenance and reliability\n\nA solid understanding of plant operations, equipment, and industrial processes\n\nFamiliarity with modern maintenance practices, tools, and technologies Including SCADA\n\nConfidence in using fault-finding techniques to diagnose and resolve issues efficiently including FMEA's & RCA's\n\nGood understanding of technical drawings such as P&ID's and the safety aspects of engineering protection schedules Including HAZOP's\n\nA working knowledge of Safe Systems of Work (SSoW) and a commitment to upholding them\n\nAbility to undertake occasional travel to other sites as part of training and knowledge‑sharing activities\n\nDesire to support and develop colleagues, contributing to personal growth and progression towards Chartered Engineer status.\n\nWhile this isn't a checklist, we'd love to hear from you if you have experience in any of the following areas:\n\nApplying a high level of technical skill to carry out a broad range of maintenance tasks on plant and equipment-safely, efficiently, and on time\n\nStaying informed about relevant legislation and standards under the Safety Management System (SMS).\n\nUsing your technical know-how diagnose and resolve faults across a variety of systems\n\nSupporting and mentoring team members and apprentices, helping to build a strong, capable workforce\n\nDemonstrating a clear understanding of your responsibilities in relation to Environment, Health, Safety, Security, and Quality standards\n\nWork hard, be rewarded: \n\nWe ask a lot and set the bar high because our work truly matters. This will be funded by AWE. The nature of our work does mean you need to be a British who has been in the UK for the past 5 years in order to apply for SC clearance and 10 years for DV. \n\nWe want you to feel comfortable and able to shine during our recruitment process.
