Associate Director Fire Engineer

The Keegans Group are looking for an Associate Director Fire Engineer within the Compliance and Safety Team. This full‑time, permanent position prefers a London based candidate but is open to nationwide applications. The role reports to the Director of Compliance and Safety and requires collaboration with other members of the C&S Division. Responsibilities
Attending and supporting project meetings and workshops with internal and external stakeholders – assisting in providing fire safety guidance and recommendations. Reviewing design information, including drawings, stage reports and specifications, and providing fire safety related comments and advice. Preparing and issuing technical reports and guidance notes on safety issues that may affect projects or our services. Carrying out and assisting research into fire safety implications of new technologies, materials, approaches and changing regulation. Providing support and guidance based on completed research. Carrying out and assisting qualitative and/or quantitative risk assessments and presenting results to stakeholders to enable informed decision‑making. Cultivating, understanding and maintaining a trusted internal network across the organisation. Generating fire safety strategy reports for projects, both new and existing buildings. Undertaking reviews and peer review of external walls to PAS 9980 guidance. Assisting in the updating and maintaining of internal best practice guidance and documentation; assisting in generating proposals for design or research services. Preparing general technical guidance notes on fire safety to support other members of the group in providing code‑compliant designs. Presenting at Group Knowledge Café sessions. Managing project records using the Deltek project management system, including fee management and forecasting of fee income for own projects. Preparing and issuing fee invoicing. Ensuring contracts are in place for instructed work with clients and sub‑consultants. Managing and developing a team of senior and fire engineers, including line management responsibilities, personal development reviews, appraisals and one‑to‑ones. Leading weekly team meetings, identifying and managing resource needs and recruitment requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
Relevant degree or master’s in construction or engineering such as surveying, fire safety engineering, etc. Professional membership with the RICS, CABE or IFE/IFSM. Significant years of experience in fire engineering or a related discipline; experience in façade fire engineering is desirable. Experience with BIM, AutoCAD or similar for design and design reviews. CFD‑based modelling, quantitative probability/reliability analysis; experience with FDS or similar for data analysis, automation and model development. Experience with regulatory and guidance frameworks including Building Regulations, The Fire Safety Act, Building Safety Act, BS 9991 and 9999. Ability to manage own workload, tasks and time to meet agreed deadlines. Where applicable, assisting the Director of Safety and Compliance. Chartered or incorporated engineer registration with the Engineering Council and IFE.
