Responsibilities
As an Associate Town Planner, you will:
Provide expert planning advice to clients across a variety of sectors, including residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments.
Prepare and submit planning applications, appeals, and other related documentation.
Conduct site appraisals, feasibility studies, and planning assessments.
Liaise with local authorities, stakeholders, and clients to ensure the successful delivery of projects.
Stay up-to-date with planning legislation, policies, and industry trends.
Mentor and support junior team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
Contribute to business development activities, including preparing proposals and attending client meetings.Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should have:
A degree in Town Planning, Urban Planning, or a related discipline.
Membership or eligibility for membership with the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).
Proven experience in a planning consultancy or local authority environment.
Strong knowledge of UK planning legislation and policy frameworks.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
A proactive and solution-oriented approach to problem-solving.
The ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.Day-to-Day
Your typical day as an Associate Town Planner will involve:
Meeting with clients to discuss project requirements and provide planning advice.
Conducting site visits and preparing detailed reports.
Drafting and submitting planning applications and appeals.
Collaborating with colleagues and external stakeholders to ensure project success.
Attending planning committee meetings and public consultations as required.
