Job Description
This job is with JLL, an inclusive employer and a member of myGwork – the largest global platform for the LGBTQ+ business community. Please do not contact the recruiter directly.
We are looking for a Senior Surveyor or Associate to join the Portfolio Transactions part of our Affordable Housing team, forming part of our UK Residential Value and Risk Advisory business.
Based - Central London W1 (hybrid working available).
The Affordable Housing team in JLL's UK Residential Value and Risk Advisory business needs a Senior Surveyor or Associate in a new role on the portfolio transactions side of the team. Busy, growing, and very successful in our market, the team needs a transaction manager and valuer who can learn quickly to support complex portfolio transactions of tenanted social housing throughout the country, coupled with providing an exceptional level of service to our existing client base. Social housing experience is not a prerequisite for the role, but would be an advantage, as would an empathy for the housing sector.
Working in support of a Senior Director and Director, and as part of a larger team, this role would suit someone who has experience of managing complex, multi-asset transactions in a capital markets environment, involving multiple stakeholders, large volumes of data and challenging timescales.
Understanding the drivers of value for all parties is vital, so experience of working with DCF valuation models, coupled with the ability to assimilate information from other sources, including legal and technical sources, would be key attributes. We need someone who is highly numerate, with a keen eye for detail; who is a skilled negotiator, combining both empathy and diplomacy with a hard, commercial edge; who can communicate advice clearly, both orally and in writing; and who can build trusting relationships with clients, counterparties, and other professional advisers.
The role would be based in our head office in Central London, but with flexible and hybrid working. Some travel nationally will be required for client meetings, and potentially for visits to housing stock.
Required or desirable skills and experience for this role:
- MRICS qualification (essential) and 4+ years' PQE for an Associate (2+ for a Senior Surveyor).
- RICS Registered Valuer.
- Experience in the valuation of property assets using DCF, either residential property or other asset classes.
- Fluent user of MS Excel, including data analysis.
- Comfortable handling large amounts of data.
- Excellent written English, with the ability to produce high quality, accurate reports in MS Word with good attention to detail.
- Project management with experience of supporting multiple client relationships and instructions.
- Ability to work under pressure and to manage multiple, competing priorities.
- Strong work ethic, with a demonstrable commitment to client service.
- Enthusiastic and self-motivated.
- Flexible, team player.
- Driving licence essential.
