Job Description

A well-established manufacturing organisation is looking to appoint an Automation & Projects Engineer to support and enhance its control systems across production operations. This role combines hands-on automation support with the delivery of smaller engineering projects, playing a key part in improving reliability, efficiency and long-term site capability.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n- Provide technical ownership of automated systems across production and packaging areas\n- Diagnose faults, update logic and enhance functionality within Siemens PLC and HMI platforms\n- Deliver small-to-medium automation and engineering projects from initial concept through to commissioning\n- Identify inefficiencies and implement improvements to equipment performance, uptime and safety\n- Produce and maintain technical documentation including system descriptions, drawings and risk assessments\n- Support compliance with health, safety and quality standards across engineering activities\n- Coordinate with external service providers and equipment suppliers when required\n\nCandidate Profile:\n\n- Formal qualification in automation, controls or electrical engineering ideally to HNC / HND level\n- Strong hands-on experience with Siemens PLC programming, modification and fault diagnosis\n- Background within a production, manufacturing, or industrial environment\n- Exposure to food, beverage, pharmaceutical or FMCG manufacturing environments\n- Experience with SCADA or process control systems\n- Ability to produce or interpret electrical or mechanical CAD drawings\n\nKey Skills & Attributes:\n\n- PLC and HMI development and optimisation\n- Understanding of industrial automation architectures and networking\n- Structured approach to CI\n- Confident communicator \n- Strong planning, organisation and documentation skills\n\nPlease reach out to Josh Manby on (phone number removed) or (url removed) for further information.\n\nAs you know over here at Zest we like to do things properly and always want to keep you, the candidate in the loop.
