Silas is transforming insurance operations through intelligent automation. Our platform helps insurance companies process documents faster and more accurately, enabling better customer service and operational efficiency. We're looking for an experienced backend engineer to help scale our production systems serving enterprise customers.

The Role

You'll design and build microservices that power intelligent document processing for insurance workflows, working with modern AI technologies and cloud infrastructure. This is a hands-on technical role with significant ownership and impact.

Key Responsibilities

·      Design and implement RESTful microservices using Python/FastAPI

·      Integrate large language models and AI APIs into production systems

·      Manage database architecture, optimization, and data pipelines

·      Deploy and maintain cloud infrastructure with security best practices

·      Collaborate with technical leadership on architecture and product decisions

Required Experience

·      3+ years of backend development experience with Python

·      Strong understanding of REST APIs, async programming, and database design

·      Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and containerization

·      Proven ability to write production-quality code with proper testing and documentation

·      Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently

Preferred Qualifications

·      Experience integrating LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, AWS Bedrock)

·      Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools

·      Knowledge of information security standards and compliance frameworks

·      Experience in early-stage startup environments

Technology Stack
