Following recent growth and their migration to AWS, they're investing heavily in modernising their platform and building new products.I'm now looking for a Backend Developer to join their agile team and play a key role in shaping the future of their technology.The RoleThis is a hands-on backend role with real ownership. You'll work across both:Stabilising and improving existing Laravel-based systemsDesigning and building new SaaS products using a modern tech stackYou'll act as the backend authority within a small, collaborative team, working closely with a Frontend Developer and Senior UX/UI Designer.What You'll Be DoingDesign & DevelopmentBuild and maintain scalable SaaS applicationsDevelop clean, well-structured backend systems using modern LaravelDesign and implement robust RESTful APIs for a React frontendArchitecture & OwnershipOwn backend architecture and code qualityDesign multi-tenant database structuresApply best practices (service patterns, Eloquent optimisation, clean architecture)System OptimisationImprove performance and reliability of legacy systemsHandle complex data migrationsProactively enhance system securityCloud & DevOpsHelp modernise systems using AWS managed servicesMaintain and improve CI/CD pipelinesSupport automated, reliable deploymentsCollaborationWork closely with frontend and UX on product developmentContribute to product discovery and backlog shapingParticipate in Agile/SCRUM ceremonies (Jira)Key Technical Requirements3+ years commercial experience in backend developmentStrong PHP (8.x) and deep Laravel expertiseSolid PostgreSQL experience (schema design, optimisation)Experience building APIs and integrating with frontend frameworks (ideally React)Strong understanding of Agile/SCRUM and TDDNice to HaveExperience with AWS and infrastructure modernisationCI/CD pipeline design and managementExposure to AI tooling (e.g. GitHub Copilot, Claude)Experience with agentic AI systemsFamiliarity with Figma workflows Interested in this position?
