Behaviour Specialist KS1

New Today

At Protocol Education, we know that supporting a child with significant behavioural needs on a one-to-one basis is skilled, demanding and deeply impactful work. This isn’t just about managing behaviour. It’s about understanding triggers, building trust and creating the conditions where a child can feel safe enough to succeed.

We are currently seeking a confident and experienced Behaviour Specialist to support one pupil with complex needs in a primary setting in BS12. This role calls for calm authority, emotional intelligence and the resilience to stay steady when things feel challenging.

You’ll work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and pastoral team to deliver consistent, personalised support throughout the school day. Your focus will be on implementing behaviour support strategies, using de-escalation techniques, reinforcing positive choices and helping the pupil develop healthier ways to regulate and communicate.

This is a highly individual role where progress won’t always look traditional. It might be a successful transition between lessons. A reduced incident. A moment where frustration is expressed with words instead of actions. Every step forward counts.

You’ll need to be proactive, observant and confident following behaviour plans, while also building a strong, respectful relationship with the pupil. Consistency is key. So is empathy.

We’ll match you carefully to the setting and ensure you feel fully supported by a consultant who understands behaviour support in primary schools and the realities that come with it.

If you’re someone who can stay calm, set clear boundaries and genuinely believes that behaviour can change with the right support, this could be the right next step for you.
