Building Services Engineer
Location: Billericay

A well-established and growing multi-disciplinary consultancy is seeking an Intermediate Building Services Engineer to join its Building Services team based in Billericay.
This role will involve providing mechanical engineering support across a range of building services projects, with a strong focus on the healthcare and education sectors. The successful candidate will contribute to both design and project delivery, supporting the development of practical and efficient engineering solutions within the built environment.
This position offers the opportunity to work as part of a collaborative team delivering technically challenging and rewarding projects.
Due to the nature of some projects, security clearance may be required.
The Role
The successful candidate will:
• Deliver projects to a high technical standard, within agreed timescales and budgets
• Undertake design work and provide technical input into building services engineering solutions
• Assist in developing practical and cost-effective engineering designs
• Meet with clients to establish project briefs and budgets
• Prepare detailed specifications and drawings in response to client requirements
• Review tenders and prepare tender reports with recommendations
• Project manage site works from commencement through to completion
• Monitor site progress against design specifications and support agreement of contractor final accounts
• Carry out inspections of existing installations and prepare condition reports
• Prepare technical reports, design presentations, tender drawings and specifications
• Develop energy strategies and support sustainable and low carbon design approaches
• Use thermal modelling software and CAD tools including AutoCAD and Revit
• Select appropriate mechanical plant and equipment and develop plantroom configurations
• Carry out analysis and coordination of pipework and ductwork systems with other disciplines
• Undertake site visits, surveys and witness system commissioning
• Assist with monthly invoicing and financial project management tasks
• Work towards achieving team targets and project delivery objectives
Requirements
• Degree or Master’s in Engineering or Building Services Engineering
• Membership of the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers, The Energy Institute or similar professional body desirable
• Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership
• Experience delivering building services engineering projects
• Proficiency in mechanical design software such as IES
• Experience using AutoCAD and Revit
• Good knowledge of relevant legislation, CIBSE guides, building regulations and industry standards
• Strong organisational and communication skills
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
