Business Development Manager - Diesel Generators - London/Southeast UK - £65,000-£75,000 + OTE £150,000 (Uncapped) + Car


We are working with a well-established engineering business operating within the distributed energy and power generation sector, delivering solutions across the UK and Northern Europe. Following continued growth and investment, they are building a dedicated sales function for their diesel generator range and are looking for a commercially driven BDM to lead that effort.


The Role

This is a new business role with genuine autonomy. You will be responsible for developing the diesel generator sales capability, building a customer base, generating pipeline, and driving revenue across the UK market. You will have the backing of a technically strong team and a quality product portfolio behind you.


There is real scope to grow within this role as the business develops its generator operation across the UK and Northern Europe.


Key Responsibilities

  • Drive new business sales of diesel generators and associated equipment across the UK
  • Build and manage a self-generated pipeline across industrial, commercial, and critical power end users
  • Develop relationships with contractors, consultants, facilities managers, and end users
  • Manage the full sales cycle from lead generation through to contract close
  • Work closely with technical and service teams throughout
  • Provide market intelligence to support pricing and business planning


What We Are Looking For

  • Proven track record in diesel generator sales, in a current or recent role
  • Background from an established distributor or manufacturer in the standby power market such as Bells Power Group, Power Electrics, Stuart Group, Cummins, MTU, Mitsubishi, Generac, Hyundai, Yanmar, Kohler, Himoinsa, or SDMO
  • Strong commercial ability, comfortable negotiating at a senior level
  • Hunter mentality, motivated by winning new business
  • Professional and credible with director and C-suite stakeholders
  • Based in or commutable to the Southeast, with a full UK driving licence
