Business Development Manager\n\nThe successful candidate will possess high level business development and technical expertise from within the highways maintenance, street lighting, highways lighting, VMS or highways electrical sectors. Their staff are tirelessly dedicated to delivering the highest standards of project excellence for a wide and varied client base, which in turn ensures they continue to be a competitive force in the industry.\n\nOverview\n\nDue to continued expansion and the commitment to sustained and profitable growth, our client now wishes to appoint a highly motivated and industry experienced Business Development Manager.\n\nReporting to the main board of Directors, the main purpose of this role will be to take responsibility for managing the development of new business opportunities and partnerships for projects ensuring maximum market exposure, and that clients and partners receive a high-quality service.\n\nThe successful candidate will also support all work winning and preconstruction activities, ensuring successful project acquisition and safe operations.
This role allows you the opportunity to work with high profile clients, build out the company’s customer base and make it your own, as you will be involved in the early development stage of projects both from a sales and engineering perspective. You will target the strategic opportunities to deliver medium- and long-term growth and profitability. You will be developing, managing and maintaining successful relationships with relevant local authorities and associated partners in the pursuit of additional opportunities.\n\nThe Role\n\n * Develop and implement a comprehensive work winning strategy for projects, including identification of potential clients, market analysis, and competitive positioning\n\n * Cultivate and maintain relationships with existing and potential clients, understanding their requirements, and deliver tailored solutions to meet their needs\n\n * Lead the preparation and submission of winning proposals, including technical and commercial aspects, ensuring alignment with client expectations and project requirements\n\n * Conduct in-depth market research to identify emerging trends, opportunities, and potential risks in the high voltage sector, thus providing insights for business development strategy\n\n * Contribute to the preconstruction phase of projects, collaborating with internal teams to ensure successful project planning, cost estimation, scheduling, and risk assessment\n\n * Foster collaborative relationships with industry stakeholders, to enhance business opportunities and remain informed of industry advancements\n\n * Ensure all work winning and preconstruction activities are carried out in accordance with applicable safety regulations and company policies, promoting a safe working environment for employees and contractors\n\nThe Person\n\n * Possess relevant experience, coupled with a minimum of 5 to 10 years’ experience in the highways maintenance, street lighting, highways lighting, VMS or highways electrical sectors\n\n * Prior experience in leading successful work winning and operations with preconstruction activities is essential\n\n * Familiarity with relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices\n\n * Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective business development strategies, analyse market trends, and identify opportunities for growth\n\n * Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present proposals, negotiate contracts, and build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders\n\n * Deep commitment to safety in all aspects of work, with a strong understanding of safety regulations and protocols in the industry\n\n * Hold a valid driving license, as the role will require traveling to clients and sites etc.\n\nWorking from home, a highly attractive remuneration package is on offer for the successful candidate, coupled with career progression, along with challenging variety, security and longevity of work, given the company’s leading industry status and their continued dedication to profitable growth
