Location: Shrewsbury

Hours: MondayFriday

Up to £39,000 per annum

Orion is hiring a proactive, detail driven Buyer to keep fast moving manufacturing lines supplied with the right electro-mechanical components from metalwork and electronics to specialist electrical items.

Key Responsibilities of this Buyer position:

  • Own the purchasing cycle: source quotes, evaluate suppliers, and raise POsfast.
  • Protect uptime: monitor delivery schedules and prevent production delays.
  • Guard quality: ensure materials meet strict specification and compliance standards.
  • Fix issues early: resolve pricing errors, late deliveries, and non-conformance quickly.
  • Chase & expedite track shipments and follow up proactively with suppliers.
  • Stay audit ready: keep POs, files, and records organised for full traceability

Experience & Requirements of this Buyer position:

  • Minimum 5 years experience in a Buyer or Purchasing role within engineering or manufacturing.
  • Confident negotiation skills and clear, professional communication.
  • Hands on experience with MRP/ERP/SAP systems.
  • Electromechanical purchasing experience (highly desirable).
  • Sharp attention to detail with a collaborative, solutions first mindset.
  • Calm, composed, and effective when working under pressure.
