Buyer / Expediter Technical Support Function

This is a varied and hands-on support role suited to an experienced Buyer/Expediter who thrives in a fast-paced, technically driven environment. The role plays a critical part in supporting internal teams by ensuring the timely and cost-effective supply of engineered components, while maintaining strong supplier relationships and clear communication across the business.
You will act as a key link between technical teams, suppliers, and project stakeholders, using your commercial awareness, negotiation skills, and technical understanding to keep projects moving and priorities aligned.

Key Responsibilities
Support internal technical and project teams by sourcing and purchasing engineered parts and materials
Review and interpret technical requirements, drawings, or specifications to ensure correct sourcing
Identify suitable suppliers and manage ongoing supplier relationships
Issue RFQs, evaluate responses, and negotiate pricing, lead times, and commercial terms
Raise and manage purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and alignment with internal requirements
Actively expedite orders, progress chase suppliers, and manage delivery commitments
Monitor and communicate potential delays or risks, proposing practical solutions
Maintain accurate purchasing and delivery data within internal systems
Support stock control activities, including monitoring levels and resolving discrepancies
Assist with general purchasing, administrative, and documentation tasks as required
Collaborate closely with colleagues across technical, operational, and commercial functions
Skills & Experience
Proven experience in a buyer, expediter, purchasing, or supply-chain support role
Confident working with engineered or technical components
Strong negotiation skills with the ability to balance cost, quality, and delivery
Commercially aware with a proactive and solutions-focused mindset
Comfortable liaising with suppliers and internal stakeholders at all levels
Able to interpret technical information and communicate it clearly
Well organised with strong attention to detail
Confident user of ERP/MRP systems and standard office software
Calm under pressure with the ability to manage multiple priorities
