CAD Design EngineerLocation:BradfordSalary:£30,000 - £38,000Job Purpose:To develop accurate, practical, and manufacturable CAD designs and engineering drawings that meet functional, quality, cost, and production requirements. The role supports efficient product manufacture in line with company standards, processes, and continuous improvement objectives. The company designs, manufactures, and installs commercial bar systems and equipment for the hospitality industry.Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:Design & EngineeringProduce detailed 3D CAD models and engineering drawings usingSolidWorks.Review and interpret in-house project drawings usingAutoCAD.Progress new product designs from concept stage through to manufacture.Revise and update existing designs in response to design reviews, engineering change requests, and production feedback.Apply Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) principles to ensure practical, cost-effective solutions.Participate in design reviews, technical discussions, and problem-solving activities.Documentation & ControlGenerate and maintain accurate engineering drawings and technical documentation.Maintain drawing control, revision history, and document management in line with company procedures.Prepare and maintain detailed Bills of Materials (BOMs).Ensure all designs comply with internal standards, quality procedures, and best practice guidelines.Collaboration & Technical SupportConsult internally with Sales, Engineering, and Production teams to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable.Liaise with suppliers regarding technical queries and component specifications.Assist with prototype builds, inspections, and design validation activities.Provide technical guidance and support to Production and Installation teams where required.Planning & PerformanceManage personal workload to meet agreed project timescales.Report progress and escalate issues to the Technical Manager as required.Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the department.Health & SafetyRemain compliant with all health and safety regulations and safe working practices at all times.Report any health and safety issues or concerns to management promptly.General ResponsibilitiesCarry out other duties as reasonably required to support business needs.Comply with all company policies and procedures.Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of work.Work collaboratively with all employees in the fulfilment of company objectives.Person Specification:EssentialProven experience in a CAD Design Engineer or similar role within a manufacturing environment.Strong proficiency inSolidWorks(3D modelling and drawing generation).Knowledge ofAutoCAD.Experience progressing designs from concept to manufacture.Understanding of manufacturing processes (e.g. sheet metal, fabrication, machining, assembly).Knowledge of DFMA principles.Experience creating and managing Bills of Materials (BOMs).Strong attention to detail and ability to manage drawing revisions and document control.Good communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.DesirableExperience in stainless steel fabrication or sheet metal design.Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems.Experience supporting prototype builds and validation processes.Engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent experience).JBRP1_UKTJ
