Job Description
S&D Trade Recruitment is supporting a client in Croydon in their search for a CAD Manager. This role offers the opportunity to lead the production and coordination of MEP design drawings across a wide variety of projects, from small refurbishments to large-scale residential, education, and commercial developments. You will be responsible for ensuring all designs are accurate, fully coordinated, and delivered on schedule, while maintaining the highest technical and quality standards.\n\nThe successful CAD Manager will work closely with engineering teams locally and remotely to ensure smooth collaboration and consistent outputs.
This role is ideal for a proactive and detail oriented professional who thrives in a consultancy environment, values technical excellence, and enjoys mentoring others.\n\nHours: 8.30 am to 5.00 pm, Monday to Friday, with one fixed day working from home.\nSalary: £45,000 – £60,000 depending on experience.\n\nAs a CAD Manager, your responsibilities will include:\n\n * Leading the production of 2D and 3D MEP drawings, interpreting engineers’ instructions and technical mark-ups into clear, accurate outputs.\n\n * Coordinating design information across mechanical, electrical, plumbing, architectural, and structural disciplines to ensure consistency and avoid clashes.\n\n * Managing and reviewing CAD requests, allocating work, and mentoring team members to maintain quality and efficiency.\n\n * Supporting project meetings and client discussions by providing technical input, updates on drawings, and coordination advice.\n\n * Maintaining document control and ensuring all drawings and models comply with digital engineering and company procedures.\n\n * Monitoring the delivery of CAD outputs to meet project schedules and deadlines while maintaining quality standards.\n\n * Implementing and maintaining QA, BIM, and internal procedures to ensure compliance with relevant industry standards.\n\n * Ensuring designs meet Building Regulations, British Standards, and recognised best practice frameworks such as CIBSE, BSRIA, ISO 19650, and UK BIM standards.\n\nRequirements:\n\n * Significant experience as a CAD Manager or senior CAD professional, producing MEP drawings and coordinating outputs across multiple projects.\n\n * Experience managing a team, reviewing work, mentoring staff, and ensuring consistency of deliverables.\n\n * Skilled in AutoCAD (essential), with Revit and Navisworks experience , alongside Microsoft Excel and Word; experience with IES is advantageous.\n\n * Strong understanding of building services, coordination techniques, and construction processes.\n\n * Knowledge of key regulations and standards including Building Regulations, CDM Regulations, British Standards, and industry best practice frameworks.\n\n * Ability to produce drawings and models accurately, carry out technical checks, and support project delivery efficiently.\n\n * Excellent organisational and communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.\n\n * Self motivated, collaborative, and capable of taking ownership of CAD workflows and team outputs.\n\nBenefits:\n\n * 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays.\n\n * Discretionary bonus scheme.\n\n * Pension contribution.\n\n * Training and development opportunities.\n\n * Travel expenses reimbursed for work outside normal commute, including petrol and additional costs.\n\nThis vacancy is being advertised by S&D Trade Recruitment, acting as an employment agency and employment business on behalf of the client.
