Calibration Engineer for Engine Testing (Contract)

Location: Milton Keynes - Onsite Contract: 6 months initially Start date: ASAP Rate: up to £45 ph - outside IR35
\n

An automotive instrumentation business is looking for a hands on Calibration / Test Engineer, ideally from an engine test or instrumentation test background to help develop and validate a new clean fuel engine measurement system.
\n
This is a practical, workshop based role focused on instrumentation, experimental testing, and data analysis, working closely with a small engineering team.
\n

The Role:
\n
\n Define and design test plans for a high precision engine measurement system
\n
Instrument test rigs (pressure sensors, fast-response thermocouples, DAQ)
\n
Execute manual testing and repeat historic tests
\n
Analyse data and report findings
\n
Recommend design and test improvements
\n
Potentially support transition from manual to automated testing
\n
Collaborate closely with other engineers
\n
\n
\n
Skills required:
\n
\n Background in engine testing, instrumentation testing, or calibration
\n
Experience with instrumentation & data acquisition systems ( Instruments )
\n
Strong understanding of pressure, temperature, flow, and high-speed events
\n
Confident working in a hands-on workshop role
\n
Strong maths and data analysis capability
\n
Experience with Python or MATLAB (highly desirable)
\n
LabVIEW experience (desirable)
\n
\n
\n
Desirable:
\n
\n Experience with Clean Energy systems e.g. gaseous or hydrogen
\n
Exposure to test automation or model development
\n
Familiarity with experimental method development
\n
\n
\n
\n
