About the Role As Care Home Unit Manager, you will support the Home Manager in the day-to-day operational and clinical oversight of the home. Working closely with nurses and carers, you will ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery that meets regulatory requirements and, most importantly, the individual needs of residents. You will take a hands-on leadership role, championing clinical excellence, strengthening governance, and actively contributing to clinical delivery across the home. Key Responsibilities * Support the Home Manager to develop, implement, and monitor clinical governance policies, NICE guidelines, and procedures in line with NMC and regulatory standards. * Lead, support, and mentor nurses and carers, providing coaching and training in up-to-date clinical practices including medication administration, wound care, and resident assessments. * Ensure accurate and compliant care records are maintained, with care plans reflecting residents’ individual needs and best professional practice. * Monitor and review clinical standards, identifying areas for improvement and driving positive change. * Work collaboratively with the Home Manager and wider leadership team to promote a positive, supportive, and engaged working environment. * Act as a role model, demonstrating excellent clinical practice, leadership, and professionalism at all times. Skills & Attributes * Proven experience as a Nurse Manager or in a similar leadership role within the care sector. * Approachable, professional, and confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills. * Strong team player with effective coaching and mentoring abilities. * Excellent clinical skills with a strong focus on person-centred care. * Ability to remain calm under pressure and prioritise effectively. * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a solutions-focused mindset. * Confident IT user with experience of electronic care records and databases. Qualifications * NMC registered nurse with relevant post-registration experience.
