Job Description Casual Leisure Attendant Stranraer/Newton Stewart £13.95 per hour Based in our Facilities in the West, the Ryan Centre, Stranraer or The Merrick Leisure Centre, Newton Stewart. The hours are as and when required to provide cover for holidays and sickness. This may include evening and weekend work. We wish to recruit enthusiastic individuals to work as part of our team, to assist with and supervise the facilities and provide a high quality of service to our customers. You will assist in the day-to-day operation of the facility, reporting to the Facility Duty Officer. Relevant experience in a similar role and in the delivery of leisure and sport activities would be an advantage. You will have the ability to work on your own initiative and to prioritise your work. You must have excellent customer care skills, experience of working with members of the public, be self-motivated and able to work on your own initiative. Knowledge of Health and Safety issues and current trends in leisure facilities is desirable. We will look for evidence of good communication skills and a flexible working attitude. Hours will be based predominantly on poolside; however, you will also be required to work in other areas of the service. A current RLSS National Pool Lifeguard award is essential (by the time employment commences) and a First Aid Certificate is desirable. Education to a level of Standard Grade English and Maths or equivalent is essential. Possession of a current driving licence would be advantageous. This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council. Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
