CDM Principal Designer (National Grid Framework Projects)

Sustainable Talent is working with a Tier-1 Contractor that is searching for a CDM Principal Designer to work on National Grid framework projects. About the Position The contractor shall provide all labour, management, coordination, assurance, documentation and leadership necessary to fully discharge the duties of: Principal Designer (PD) for the duration of the project, in accordance with:
National Grid Technical Assurance requirements CDM Regulations 2015 Applicable UK legislation and industry best practice
The contractor shall be fully accountable for the performance of these roles. The appointment is outcome-based, not advisory. About the Role The contractor shall: Exercise reasonable skill, care and diligence expected of a competent specialist operating on National Grid projects. Act proactively to identify, manage and mitigate design, safety and interface risks. Not rely on the Employer or others to identify omissions, non-compliances or risks. Responsibilities
Act as the single point of accountability PD duties Provide active management, assurance and coordination, not advisory support only Ensure all duties are discharged in a timely, proactive and auditable manner Comply with all relevant National Grid specifications, procedures and approvals processes Maintain full records suitable for audit by National Grid and the Client
Qualifications The Principal Designer services shall include, but are not limited to:
Full compliance with CDM Regulations 2015 Coordination of all design-related health and safety matters
Required Skills
Establishment and maintenance of the Design Risk Register Chairing HAZID / HAZCON / design risk workshops Ensuring risks are reduced in accordance with the Principles of Prevention Liaison with construction and temporary works teams Providing H&S File inputs and residual risk information
Preferred Skills
Establish and maintain the Design Risk Register Ensure risks are eliminated or reduced in line with the Principles of Prevention Ensure residual risks are clearly communicated
Contract Duration The design phase is anticipated to be 12 months, followed by up to 24 months of construction support.
The contract is for 2 days per week for an initial 12 months
