We are looking for an experienced Second Chef with previous care home kitchen experience to support the Head Chef in preparing nutritious, high-quality meals for residents. The ideal candidate will understand special dietary requirements, maintain high food hygiene standards, and be confident cooking for large groups. Reliable, organised, and a strong team player essential. Communication skills are essential for staff and residents. Key Responsibilities: Assist in planning and preparing balanced, home-style meals for residents

Cater for special dietary needs (e.g., diabetic, vegetarian, texture-modified diets)

Maintain high standards of food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness

Support stock control, ordering, and minimising waste

Ensure compliance with Food Safety and Health & Safety regulations

Cover the Head Chefs duties in their absence

Strong taste & creative & able to create new dishes & help plan menu

Requirements: Proven experience working in a care home or similar environment

Good knowledge of food safety (Level 2 Food Hygiene)

Ability to cook for large groups

Organised, reliable, and able to work as part of a team

Compassionate and understanding of elderly residents needs

Hours are rota based either 7am to 3pm,11am to 7pm, or 7am to 7pm, this would include working some weekends if required and the rota will be scheduled between 8hr shifts to 12hrs shifts. 36hr contract
