Ratcliffe College is seeking an exceptional Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join our Senior Leadership Team and lead the operational, financial and strategic functions of the College. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of a thriving independent school community. Working closely with the Head and both the Board of Governors and Trustees, the COO will ensure the effective management of the College’s resources while driving innovation, operational excellence and new revenue opportunities. Key Responsibilities
Strategic leadership of the College’s operational functions including Finance, HR, Marketing, Estates, Catering, Domestic Services, Transport, Health & Safety and Security Oversight of the College’s financial strategy, budgeting and forecasting Leadership of support staff across multiple departments Development of income generation initiatives beyond school fees Management of estates development and major projects Ensuring compliance with governance, regulatory and safeguarding standards Supporting the Head and Governors in delivering the College’s long‑term vision
About You
Senior operational or executive leadership experience Strong financial and organisational management skills The ability to lead diverse teams and manage complex operations Strategic thinking with the ability to deliver innovation and growth Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Experience within the independent education sector would be advantageous, but we also welcome candidates from other sectors who can bring fresh perspectives and strong leadership capability.
