Service Care Legal is currently seeking a Childcare Lawyer to join a busy London Local Authority. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a predominantly remote basis, with just one day per week in the office and occasional Court attendance.

Role: Childcare Lawyer

Location: London

Rate: £50–£55 per hour (Umbrella) / £48.48ph PAYE inc. holiday pay / £43.26ph exc. Holiday pay

Contract: Initial 3-month contract (likely extension, 35 hours per week)

About the Role

1. Provide expert legal advice to Children’s Services on Public Law Outline (PLO) matters and advise on initiating public law care proceedings.
2. Conduct advocacy on complex childcare cases, including those with an international element, immigration considerations, capacity issues, non-accidental injuries, and large sibling groups.
3. Draft a wide range of legal documents including case summaries, case management orders, Part 25 applications, particularised thresholds, skeleton arguments, and written submissions.
4. Handle judicial review claims involving Children’s Services and Education, including drafting procedures, policies, and protocols for transitional cases.

About You

1. Qualified Solicitor with demonstrable experience in childcare and family law within a local authority setting.
2. Confident advocate with the ability to manage complex and sensitive cases.
3. Strong drafting skills and a sound understanding of public law care proceedings.
