Children's Residential Support Worker

We are currently recruiting Ad-Hoc Residential Support Workers to support children and young people aged 6–17 across a range of residential services.
These homes care for young people with challenging behaviours, learning disabilities and complex needs. We are looking for resilient, compassionate individuals who are committed to making a genuine difference in young people’s lives.
This is a flexible, ad-hoc position where you can choose shifts that suit your schedule. However, applicants must be able to commit to a minimum of 25 hours per week.
The Role
As a Residential Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in helping young people feel safe, valued and supported while encouraging their independence and personal development.
Your key responsibilities will include:
* Supporting young people with daily routines and developing independence skills
* Managing and responding to emotional and behavioural challenges in a calm and consistent manner
* Building strong, therapeutic relationships based on trust and respect
* Encouraging participation in creative activities, music and structured routines
* Maintaining a safe, stable and nurturing home environment
* Completing daily reports and contributing to care planning
This role requires emotional resilience, patience and strong interpersonal skills, along with the ability to remain composed in challenging situations.
Shift Patterns
Typical shifts include:
* 7:30am – 11:00pm
* 10:00pm – 8:00am (Waking Night)
Shift patterns may vary depending on the service, as we partner with multiple residential providers.
Requirements
* Minimum 6 months UK experience working with children or young people in settings such as:
* Residential care
* Schools
* Youth work
* Supported accommodation
* Prison service
* Full UK driving licence
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
* Aged 21+ (in line with safeguarding and Ofsted regulations)
* Confidence supporting children with challenging behaviours and complex needs
