About the role
As our Children’s/Baby Buyer, you’ll lead the expansion into a strategically important new category, helping Abbott Lyon build a go-to destination for thoughtful, luxury-led children’s and baby gifts.
You’ll be responsible for identifying product opportunities in this fast-growing category - ensuring every product meets our brand standards, customer expectations, and commercial targets. This is a hands-on, highly commercial role that blends product curation, market insight, and supplier management - with a clear focus on scaling the category.
Key Responsibilities
- Build & Own the Children’s/Baby Category: Define and deliver the buying strategy for children's and baby products — aligned to trend, brand vision, and our positioning as a premium gifting destination.
- Identify Product Opportunities: Use data, customer insight, and market research to spot new opportunities in keepsakes, jewellery, accessories, and soft gifts for babies and children.
- Source & Develop Product: Work closely with suppliers to develop high-quality, safe, and giftable products that meet regulatory standards for the baby/children's category.
- Negotiate & Manage Suppliers: Own all supplier relationships — from negotiating commercial terms to ensuring timely deliveries and consistent product quality.
- Work Cross-Functionally: Partner with design, marketing, logistics, and trading teams to ensure smooth product launches, brand consistency, and campaign readiness.
- Launch with Impact: Ensure products are delivered on time, on-brand, and ready to succeed commercially across all channels (site, social, retail, wholesale).
- Optimise the Range: Track performance, manage stock levels, and refine the category assortment based on what’s working, what’s trending, and what the customer wants.
Requirements
- Experience in a buying role within baby/children’s products, ideally in accessories, gifting, or lifestyle.
- Strong understanding of safety regulations and product standards within children’s categories.
- Commercial mindset with the ability to balance trend awareness with margin management.
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally with internal and external teams — from design to marketing.
- Strong negotiation and supplier relationship skills.
- Passionate about gifting, customer moments, and creating personalised, meaningful product.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, growth-stage brand where ownership and initiative are key.
- Ideally has experience in D2C, ecommerce, or multichannel retail environments.
