Contract Civil Design Engineer – Drainage Focus

We’re looking for a Civil Design Engineer with drainage experience to support key projects for a large utilities consultancy in the Midlands. This is a contract role, ideal for someone who can hit the ground running and deliver design solutions focused on water and drainage systems.

The Role:

Deliver detailed civil designs for drainage and sewer rehabilitation projects.

Produce drawings, calculations, and technical documents to support project delivery.

*

Work closely with the end client and other stakeholders to ensure design compliance.

*

Coordinate with other disciplines (e.g., geotechnical, hydraulics) to develop integrated solutions.

*

Support delivery across all project stages — from feasibility through to detailed design.

What We’re Looking For:

*

A degree in Civil Engineering (or similar), ideally with water/drainage project experience.

*

Knowledge of trenchless rehabilitation methods (e.g., CIPP lining, pipe bursting).

*

Proficient in design tools such as AutoCAD Civil 3D and MicroDrainage/InfoDrainage.

*

Understanding of CDM regulations and design risk management.

*

Strong communication skills and ability to work independently on a contract basis.

Location: Midlands-based projects (with hybrid working options).

*

Duration: Contract (outside IR35) 18 months
