Are you a Civil Technician with experience in infrastructure, drainage or highways design looking to join a collaborative consultancy working on high-quality development projects?
A growing and design-focused consultancy is looking to appoint a Civil Technician into its Newcastle office. This is an excellent opportunity for a technician with strong CAD and infrastructure experience who enjoys producing accurate, coordinated design information across a wide range of projects.
This is a role for someone who wants to work on civil engineering packages that support well-considered development and placemaking schemes, rather than purely standardised technical delivery.
The Opportunity
You'll be part of a close-knit team delivering civil engineering and infrastructure design across a broad mix of projects.
Working alongside engineers and wider design teams, you'll support the production of coordinated technical information covering:
Drainage layouts and strategies
Highways and access designs
External works packages
Site levels and earthworks
Utility coordination
General development infrastructure designThis role offers the chance to work on a varied project portfolio while continuing to build your technical capability within a supportive and quality-focused environment.
The Role
As a Civil Technician, you'll be responsible for supporting the technical delivery of infrastructure design packages across multiple schemes.
Responsibilities will include:
Producing 2D and 3D civil engineering drawings for development infrastructure projects
Assisting with drainage and highway layouts
Preparing drawings for site levels, external works and earthworks
Supporting the development of SuDS and drainage strategies
Working closely with engineers to translate design concepts into coordinated technical packages
Updating and managing drawings throughout project stages
Assisting with technical submissions and approval packages
Coordinating information with architects, planners and external consultants
Ensuring drawing outputs are accurate, clear and aligned with project requirements
What We're Looking For
To be considered, you should have:
Experience as a Civil Technician / Infrastructure Technician / CAD Technician within civils
A background in development infrastructure, drainage, highways or external works
Strong AutoCAD skills
Experience with Civil 3D would be highly beneficial
Familiarity with software such as:
MicroDrainage / InfoDrainage
Causeway Flow / PDS (advantageous)
Experience producing drawings for UK development projects
Strong attention to detail and a good understanding of coordinated technical design
Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team
