Job Description
Civil Engineer - Water Non-Infrastructure (Clean & Waste Water)\n Contract: 12-month rolling contract (Inside IR35)\n Rate: £500 - £530 per day DOE\n Location: Peterborough - site attendance 2 days bi-weekly\n Expenses: Mileage and lodging reimbursed + £25 per night allowance\n\nWe're recruiting an experienced Civil Engineer to support the delivery of Water Non-Infrastructure (WNI) projects across clean water and wastewater assets. This long-term contract sits within a major AMP8 capital delivery programme, focused on value-driven, safe and sustainable design within operational water treatment and storage sites.\n\nYou'll work under the direction of a Technical Manager, contributing to the design and delivery of non-infrastructure civil and structural solutions that support potable and wastewater operations.\n\nThe Role\n\nYou'll develop and deliver high-quality civil engineering designs from feasibility through to construction, working closely with multidisciplinary teams and site stakeholders.\n\nKey responsibilities include:\n\nProducing civil designs, calculations, specifications and design schedules for water-sector non-infrastructure assets\nDesigning concrete and civil structures within water treatment works and storage sites\nSpecifying associated pipework within sites, including ductile iron, steel and plastic systems\nWorking within multi-disciplinary design teams to deliver solutions on time, within budget and to required standards\nLiaising with operations, construction teams and suppliers throughout the design process\nDriving health and safety excellence in design, eliminating hazards and reducing risk in line with CDM requirements\nProgressing projects from feasibility through detailed design to construction support\nUndertaking site visits to assess existing assets and gather survey information to inform design solutions\nInterpreting ground investigation data to ensure appropriate and buildable design outcomes\nSupporting the development and use of standardised design products\nIdentifying and promoting opportunities aligned with digital delivery, sustainability, innovation and continuous improvement\n\nAbout You\n\nYou'll be a capable and delivery-focused Civil Engineer with experience working on non-infrastructure assets within the water industry. \nYou'll need:\n\nBEng or MEng / MSc in Civil or Structural Engineering\nStrong experience producing civil and structural designs for water and/or wastewater assets\nProven ability to carry out reinforced concrete design using British Standards and Eurocodes\nExperience designing structures within operational treatment works or storage sites\nConfidence interpreting ground investigation reports and survey data\nProficiency with relevant design software (e.g.
