CL60 Locomotive Engineer

Boden Rail Engineering Ltd is based at Colwick TMD, Victoria Retail Park, Netherfield, Nottingham NG4 2PE and is an established Deisel locomotive maintenance depot undertaking service, maintenance, heavy engineering and full overhauls of CL37, CL56 and CL60 locomotives.

We are seeking to recruit to our team a Locomotive engineer with proven experience of undertaking locomotive servicing, maintenance, heavy engineering and full overhauls of CL60 Mirrlees traction.

Engineering duties:

• Servicing locomotives during A, B and F exams
• willing to undertake safety critical work
• Re-blocking brakes
• Bogie refurbishments
• Power unit refurbishments
• Fault finding
• Pressure washing
• Assisting with lifting and fitting of parts
• Use of overhead crane
• Removal and refitting of components
• Documentation of repairs and work arising alongside completion of block cards to evidence work undertaken
• Loadbanking

General Depot duties:

• Supporting a clean environment within depot
• Stock management
• Supporting health and safety within the depot

Skills required:

Ideally you will have experience in heavy engineering and working in a locomotive depot environment or have good knowledge of general engineering and in particular proven experience of undertaking locomotive servicing, maintenance, heavy engineering and full overhauls of CL60 Mirrlees traction. Previous experience of CL37 and CL56 will be advantageous to the successful candidate.

You must be required to undertake a railway PTS (Personal Track Safety) training and associated medical.

Education level as a minimum: NVQ level 3 in engineering

Candidates must hold a full UK driving license as the role can involve fieldwork being undertaken within the UK.

The role will involve climbing up locomotive steps, working in confined spaces and at times lifting heavy objects. Therefore, applicants must be physically able to perform the tasks within the job description.

The working hours are 40 hours a week 4 x 10hr shifts with opportunity for overtime that includes weekends. The depot consists of covered and uncovered areas where you will be expected to work in all weather conditions as required.

Excellent communication skills are essential for this role as you will be working within a small team of engineers daily.
