Job Description
Step into a role where fashion meets function. V&C Associates are recruiting for a Garment Technologist for a Casual Outerwear Design studio, you’ll be the technical backbone behind beautifully constructed products that perform, fit, and exceed every expectation. You’ll collaborate with design and product teams to craft a commercial range that drives sales, elevates quality, and brings innovation to every stitch.
You’ll bring your expertise in fabric performance, technical construction, and outerwear innovation across both adult and children’s ranges. With your sharp eye for detail and deep understanding of what makes a garment exceptional, you’ll help shape collections that are as stylish as they are technically sound.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Champion quality standards from concept to customer — ensuring every piece meets spec, looks incredible, and performs flawlessly.
- Partner closely with suppliers, guiding them through testing, training, and technical excellence.
- Validate that manufacturing methods work in bulk production to deliver durable, compliant, and high-performing garments.
- Lead and own fit sessions, translating expert technical insight into clear size specs and actionable fit comments.
- Collaborate with our Outerwear team to refine samples, specs, and patterns that tell a cohesive design story.
- Visit suppliers to elevate quality, strengthen relationships, and deepen your knowledge of global manufacturing.
- Drive continuous improvement in sustainability, innovation, and fit performance across the product lifecycle.
What You’ll Bring
- Proven technical mastery in garment or fabric technology, quality assurance, or product development — ideally from a fashion supplier or leading high-street retailer.
- Deep understanding of garment construction, pattern development, and the full fitting process.
- Specialist knowledge of outerwear fabrics, testing standards, and care labeling across men’s, women’s, and kidswear.
- A creative yet analytical mindset — equally comfortable leading a fit session or problem-solving a complex tech issue.
- Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of fashion retail dynamics and global supply chains.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and influencing skills at every level.
- Highly organised, adaptable, and calm under pressure — you thrive in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment.
- Degree qualification in a relevant discipline, with a keen interest in innovation and sustainability.
If you live and breathe fashion, obsess over fit and feel, and believe technical creativity should never compromise style — this is your chance to make your mark.
