DevOps Architect (DV Cleared)


A leading global consulting firm is seeking a DV Cleared Cloud & DevOps Architect to play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering cutting-edge cloud-native solutions within the UK’s defence and national security sector.


This is a unique opportunity for an experienced technologist to combine deep technical expertise with strategic influence, driving engineering excellence across Cloud, DevOps, and Modern Application Development.


This role sits at the heart of a high-performing Cloud & Engineering practice, where the successful candidate will lead the design and delivery of scalable, secure, and resilient cloud platforms.


Acting as both a technical authority and inspirational leader, they will guide multidisciplinary teams, influence senior stakeholders, and champion best practices across cloud-native and DevOps environments.


Key responsibilities include:


  • Designing and delivering cloud-native architectures across AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Driving DevOps transformation, including CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, and automation
  • Leading engineering teams to build modern, scalable applications using microservices and containerisation (e.g. Kubernetes, Docker)
  • Acting as a trusted advisor to clients within defence and secure government environments
  • Promoting engineering excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement
  • Contributing to the wider technology community and shaping internal best practices


The ideal candidate is a well-rounded Cloud & DevOps leader with strong consulting capability and a passion for modern engineering.


Essential experience:

  • Proven expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)
  • Strong background in DevOps practices and tooling (CI/CD pipelines, Terraform, automation)
  • Experience designing cloud-native, microservices-based architectures
  • Hands-on knowledge of containers and orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker)
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders
  • Experience leading or mentoring engineering teams
  • Highly desirable:
  • Experience working in defence, national security, or highly regulated environments
  • Understanding of secure-by-design principles
  • Active Developed Vetting (DV) Clearance (or eligibility to obtain it)
