Maxwell Consultancy are working with an established, tier 1 aerospace supplier in their search for a CMM Inspector. This is a full - time, permanent position working in their state of the art workshop in Glasgow.
As a CMM Inspector, you will play a key role in ensuring the dimensional accuracy and quality of precision‑machined components. You’ll be responsible for carrying out detailed inspections, verifying compliance with customer specifications, and supporting production teams to maintain the highest manufacturing standards.
Key Responsibilities

Conduct first-off, interim, and batch inspections of machined components using a wide range of measurement equipment.
*
Select appropriate probes, attachments, and measurement strategies to ensure accurate and efficient CMM operation.
*
Develop, document, and maintain fixturing requirements for each product to support repeatable and reliable inspection.
*
Produce clear, concise CMM and manual inspection reports that meet customer and internal manufacturing requirements.
*
Analyse CMM results, identify non-conformances or trends approaching tolerance limits, and work closely with production teams to resolve issues.
*
Perform “customer eyes” visual inspections on final batch components to ensure compliance with visual and dimensional standards.
*
Review and optimise CMM programs to reduce cycle times while maintaining measurement integrity.
*
Carry out CMM calibration activities as required.
*
Compile corrective action reports for non-conforming products and collaborate with production to ensure timely resolution.
*
Approve jobs as ready to run following successful first-off or interim inspections.
*
Support inspection activities both within the inspection department and on the shop floor as needed.

Qualifications & Experience
*
Solid understanding of machined component inspection using a broad range of measurement techniques (CMM, vision CMM, shadowgraph, etc.).
*
Practical experience with PCDMIS software is beneficial but other software expereince will be considered; experience with Calypso for Zeiss systems is advantageous.
*
Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), for both dimensional and visual acceptance.
*
Experience creating detailed work instructions, control plans, and standard operating procedures.
*
Proven background in inspecting machined components using standard engineering inspection equipment.
