CNC Miller/ Turner Setter / Operator / Programmer

Location: Clitheroe

Salary: £35 - £39k based on experience + overtime opportunities


We are a well-established precision engineering company seeking skilled CNC Milling Setter/Operators, ideally with programming experience, to join our growing production team. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced machinists who take pride in producing high-quality components to tight tolerances and want to work in a clean, modern workshop with advanced CNC machinery.

About the Role

You will set,operate, and program CNC milling machines to manufacture precision-engineered components in a variety of materials.Youllwork from detailed engineering drawings and CAD data to deliver quality, efficiency, and repeatability across small and medium batch runs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up CNC milling machines, including tooling, fixtures, offsets, and work holding.

  • Program viaHypermillCAM software or directly at the machine (Fanuc,Heidenhain, Siemens, or other).

  • Operate 3-, 4-, or 5-axis CNC machines to produce precision components.

  • Monitor production for accuracy, repeatability, and surface finish.

  • Adjust and optimise machining programs to improve cycle times, tool life, and production efficiency.

  • Interpret complex engineering drawings and 3D models.

  • Perform in-process and final inspection using precision tools (micrometres, verniers, height gauges, CMM where applicable).

  • Carry out routine machine maintenance and adhere to all safety and housekeeping standards.

WhatWereLooking For

Essential:

  • Proven experience as a CNC Milling Setter/Operator in a precision machining environment.

  • Ability to set machines from scratch, select tooling, and work independently.

  • Strong knowledge of CNC controls (Fanuc)

  • Proficiencyin reading and interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T.

  • Skilled in using measurement tools for close-tolerance inspection.

  • Attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem-solving.

Desirable:

  • Ability to program using CAM software (Hypermillpreferred) or at the machine.

  • Experience with multi-axis (4- or 5-axis) machining centres.

  • Recognised engineering qualifications (Apprenticeship, NVQ, City & Guilds, HNC/HND).
