CNC Machinist (Contract)

Location: Keighley (West Yorkshire)

Contract Length: 6 months

Hours: 37 hours per week
Shifts: Days, earlies, lates, and nights (flexibility required)

Rates:
• £30.00 – £35.00 per hour (depending on experience)
• Overtime: Time and a half

A leading global engineering company is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join their specialist manufacturing team on a 6-month contract.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate CNC cylindrical grinding machines (Studer)
• Program, set, and prove out components using Studer Win systems
• Work with Siemens 850D controls (Fanuc experience also considered)
• Manufacture precision components to extremely tight tolerances
• Interpret and work from detailed engineering drawings
• Use metrology equipment to ensure accuracy and product conformity
• Work on small to medium cylindrical components (up to 500kg) and large cubic parts
• Contribute across the full manufacturing lifecycle, from design through to delivery
• Plan workload effectively and work with minimal supervision

Candidate Requirements

Essential:
• Apprentice-trained machinist
• Strong background in high-precision machining
• Experience working to very tight tolerances
• Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings
• Experience with CNC machining and grinding processes
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to bespoke work

Desirable:
• Experience with Siemens 850D xbpsjku or Fanuc controls
• Background in aerospace or other high-tolerance industries
• Experience with cylindrical grinding (Studer machines)
• Experience working on one-off or low-volume bespoke components
