CNC Programmer/ Setter/ Operator

Our client is a Birmingham based manufacturer with decades of experience, ISO certifications as well as a proud Made in Britain accreditation holder.
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated CNC Programmer / Setter / Operator to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for programming, setting, and operating CNC machines to produce precision components to exact specifications, ensuring high quality, efficiency, and compliance with safety standards. This role requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Days/ hours of work: Monday - Thursday 7am - 4.45pm
Responsibilities
* Manufacture a variety of parts in Stainless Steel, Brass & wood from engineering drawings or concept.
* Develop, edit, and optimize CNC programs using G-code and/or CAM software (Fusion 360).
* Set up CNC machines including loading tools, fixtures, jigs, and workholding devices.
* Modify existing programs to improve cycle times, quality, and tool life.
* Conduct program prove-outs and first-off inspections.
* Operate CNC machines (e.g., milling, turning, multi-axis) during production runs.
* Perform routine machine maintenance and basic troubleshooting.
* Identify tooling wear or machine faults and report issues promptly.
* Identify and report non-conformances and suggest corrective actions.
* Participate in continuous improvement initiatives (lean manufacturing, 5S, process optimization).
* Follow all health & safety procedures, maintaining a clean and organised working area.
* Work independently and as part of a team to meet production deadlines.
Skills
* Minimum 7 years’ proven experience in CNC programming and setting of 3 & 4 axis CNC milling machines (VMC’s), CNC lathes (TC’s) with a C-axis, Y-axis, sub-spindle & driven tools.
* Knowledge of Fanuc controls and XYZ ProtoTRAK software.
* Strong understanding of engineering and machining.
* Ability to read and follow technical drawings and specifications.
* Good eye for detail and commitment to producing high-quality components.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining precision.
* Strong communication skills (written, spoken & IT – Office 365) along with a proactive work ethic
