The Best Connection Mansfield are currently seeking an experienced CNC Turner (Programmer, Setter & Operator) to join our well-established engineering client based in Kirkby-in-Ashfield , with an immediate start available. This is an excellent opportunity to join an established manufacturer producing precision-engineered components for industries such as Energy, Medical, Defence, Rail, Aerospace, Transport, and Oil Exploration .
This role requires a highly skilled individual who can confidently programme, set, and operate CNC turning machines within a high-precision engineering environment.
Requirements
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate:
Strong, proven experience in programming CNC lathes
Previous experience setting, operating, and machining large components using Fanuc controls
Full ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
Competence in producing high-quality precision components
Confident use of engineering measuring equipment (micrometers, verniers, gauges, etc.)
Excellent communication and time-management skills
Ability to work independently while being a strong team player
Ideal Candidate Profile
Fully confident programming, setting, and operating Fanuc control systems
Ability to write, edit, and amend CNC programmes
Skilled in working to tight tolerances
Experience with medium to large batch work of sizeable components
Confident working on parts up to 2m in length, using lifting equipment provided
Has completed a CNC machining apprenticeship or can demonstrate 10+ years of proven CNC experience
Excellent knowledge of 3-4 axis CNC machines, cutting speeds, feeds, and geometric tolerances
Experience working within an ISO 9001:2015 environment would be beneficial
Day-to-Day Duties
Machining complex parts from various engineering materials including:
Aluminium, Alloy Steel, Stainless Steel, Inconel, and Titanium
Reading and interpreting detailed engineering drawings
Changing and setting tooling for production
Carrying out quality inspections and completing paperwork
Using precision measuring equipment (micrometres, plug gauges, verniers, screw plugs, ring gauges)
Working collaboratively as part of the production team
Working Hours & Pay
Monday - Thursday: 06:45am - 15:30pm
Friday: 06:45am - 14:30pm
Overtime available at Double Time !
Hourly pay is dependent on experience and discussed at interview stage
