Commercial Assistant

Location: Manchester

£26,000 - £28,000 (dependant on experience)

Clarke is seeking a proactive and detail-orientedCommercial Assistantto support our Commercial Design andAcquisition teamsin delivering cost management excellence across telecom infrastructure projects. This is a key commercial role for someone with strong numerical skills, a collaborative mindset, and a passion for driving value for both Clarke and our clients.

The Role

As aCommercial Assistant, youll play a key role in ensuring commercial accuracy, timely reporting, and effective cost control, working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to manage budgets, forecasts, and contractual documentation. You should be confident working with data, have strong attention to detail, and not be afraid to ask questions. The role is fast-paced and its a great opportunity for someone eager to learn and grow, where full training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Request subcontractor orders and manage commercial admin processes.
  • Value monthly work to support turnover reporting and budget accuracy.
  • Forecast monthly sales for assigned projects.
  • Advise on Schedule of Rates and contract inclusions/exclusions.
  • Request client purchase order cover and maintain receipting schedules.
  • Negotiate rates with key and new subcontractors.
  • Update internal costing systems and approve activities.
  • Maintain commercial data in trackers and Site Tracker.
  • Maximise monthly invoicing by managing receipting schedules and resolving blockers.
  • Ensure compliance with Clarke and client contractual guidance.

What Were Looking For

Essential:

  • Strong numerical skills and proficiency in Excel.
  • Commercial awareness and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and time management skills.

Desirable:

  • Advanced Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUP).
  • Experience in a delivery-focused, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong negotiation and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to manage complexity and shifting priorities.
